Roland Brettschneider,a pianist from the Democratic Republic of Germany,visited China four times from 1955 to 1987,during which time he carried out piano performances in major cities in China for many times,and taught for two years at the Music Academy in Central-South China(the predecessor of the Wuhan Conservatory of Music)in 1956-1958,spreading the German piano school's serious,meticulous,and philosophical style of playing to China,and made an irre-placeable contribution to the piano performance and teaching in China.
