Narrative of Imperial Power in Modern Japan from General to Special
The modern Japanese imperial power narrative constructs the modern Japanese people's cognition on the emperor's power and its operation mode, which is the psychological basis of the Japanese government's decision-making. By examining the operation of the narrative persuasion mechanism of the imperial power in modern Japan,we can see that from the beginning of the formation of the narrative mode of the imperial power in modern Japan, there existed a bicultural persuasion mode conforming to the "Standard of Civilisation" of the West and imitating the politics of the holy Kings in China. However,in the new historical context after the First World War,neither model can convince the public to continue to support Japan's war of aggression. Therefore, the narrative of Japanese imperial power in modern times changed to the mode, which is to whitewash the war of aggression with the special ethic of "Japan's inherent". Japanese government's policy shift from "coordination doctrine toward the United States and Britain" to "Monroe Doctrine in Asia" was also based on the above-mentioned cognition from universal to special.
