Effective psychological support is crucial for promoting the physical and mental health of empty nest elderly.To investigate the professional psychological support needs and accessibility of psychological services for empty nest elderly in urban communities,researchers conducted a sampling survey using a self-designed questionnaire.The results showed that nearly half of empty nest elderly in urban communities expressed the need for professional psychological support.Urban empty nest elderly with characteristics such as older age,living alone,having no children,and passive empty nest have a stronger need for professional psychological support.Most empty nest elderly hope that the community can provide different forms of psychological services for the elderly,such as"psychological health education lectures"and"psychological counseling hotline".Less than a quarter of the respondents answered that psychological services for the elderly were provided in their communities.Less than half of empty nest elderly people believed that the psychological services provided by the community meet their own needs.Based on this,it is suggested to strengthen the training of professionals related to psychological services,broaden the supply channels of psychological services in urban communities,establish the physical and mental health files of the empty nest elderly in communities,establish the mutual aid organization of the empty nest elderly in urban communities,and provide the required psychological services according to the characteristics of the elderly.
