摘要
天津是华北乃至全国体育的策源地。文章从现代西方体育的传入途径、竞技体育的开展、体育活动家、各类运动会、体育组织等角度，对天津推动近代学校体育的发展进行研究。结论：总结出在洋务运动和教会学校的历史背景下，近代西方学校体育在天津捷足先登，传入各种田径、球类等竞技体育运动，培养体育活动家和优秀选手，通过体育组织的宣传和运动会的举办，使学校体育从天津走向全国。
Abstract
Tianjin is the birthplace of the Chinese sports. This article researches on Tianjin’s contribution to the development of domestic modern school sports from the following respects, the origin and effect of western sport , competitive sports, sports activists, all kinds of sports and sports organizations. The conclusion of it is that in the background of westernization movement and the church school in Tianjin not only gives birth to the modern western school sports but also cultivates many excellent sports activists and athletes; and through the launch of propaganda and sports meeting in Tianjin school sports spreads throughout the whole China.
