According to the methods of literature review and experts interview, and under the individualized perspective, this paper analyzes the ideological education of athletes in China in order to provide reference for the athletes’ ideological education and make sure that athletes gain excellent achievement for nation, society ,family and themselves. The research finds: (1) it is not satisfied with the current athletes’ ideological education in sports teams, and it is general of being lack of ideological classes, ideological education lagging, no difference of ideological education, being lack of full-time teachers in ideological education and ideological classes stereotyping; (2) athletes’ ideas about the ideological education mainly concentrate on the following three aspects: education of ideal faith, adjustment of psychological state and political courses, among which adjustment of psychological state occupies by maximum and education of ideal faith comes after; (3) ideological education methods accepted by athletes are teaching during the training and competition, traditional teaching, and communication with coaches and leaders. Communications between teammates and social practice also occupy a certain proportion, which cannot be ignored. Different athletes ' individual needs are not the same, so it needs to be treated differently.
