Six Pillars for the Digital Transformation of Education:A Common Framework
With the launch of the Global Digital Compact at the 2024 United Nations Summit of the Future,countries worldwide ushered in a new international consensus on the role of technology to build a better present and to secure a more sustainable future.Neither of these can exist without education.This document breaks down the essential components of digital transformation in education from a systematic perspective.The outer layer of the framework represents the vision(purpose,priorities and principles)while the inner layer comprises six pillars:coordination and leadership,connectivity and infrastructure,cost and sustainability,capacity and culture,content and solutions,and data and evidence.The framework serves as a tool to support decision makers in the development of a holistic vision and participatory strategies for the use of technology to advance education system goals,allowing education stakeholders who use it to respond more effectively to new developments,emerging technologies and evolving educational needs.
