A Study on HCV Genotypes of 259 Hepatitis C Virus Patients in Guangzhou Area
Objective To understand the distribution of HCV genotypes in patients with hepatitis C virus in Guangzhou area, and to provide a knowledge basis for the prevention and treatment of hepatitis C virus. Methods We obtained the results of HCV genotypes of 259 hepatitis C virus patients from September,2019 to April,2023,and compared positive rates of various genotypes across different age, gender groups and years. Results A total of 259 patients were included and the most common genotypes were 6a and 1b,accounting for 42.47% and 42.08% respectively. There were statistically significant differences when compared with other subtypes (P<0.05).Following these genotypes, others were 3a (6.18%),2a (4.63%),3b (4.25%)and 2b (0.39%).No mixed infection was found. The positive rates of 1b in young people (41.86%)and middle-aged people (31.447%)were lower than that of 71.93% in the elderly. The positive rates of 6a in young people (44.186%)and middle-aged people (51.572%)were higher than that of 15.789% in the elderly, with statistical differences. The positive rates of 1b (63.077%)and 2a (10.769%)in females were higher than that of 35.052%and 2.577%in males, respectively. The positive rates of 6a in females (18.462%)were lower than that of 50.516% in males, with statistical differences. There was no statistical difference between different years. Conclusion HCV genotypes of hepatitis C virus patients in Guangzhou area are mainly 6a and 1b.1b is more common in elderly people and female.6a is the predominant genotype among young and middle-aged population and males.
