The Development of Lipid Appropriate Level for Apparently Healthy Tibetan Adults in the Sichuan Plateau Region
Objective To establish appropriate levels of cholesterol (TC),triacylglycerol (TG),high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C)and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C)in apparently healthy Tibetan adults in the Sichuan plateau region, and to provide better knowledge bases for the prevention and treatment of hyperlipidemia in Tibetan adults in this region. Methods 2262,including 1322 males and 940 females, aged 20-69 years old Tibetan people who underwent health checkups in our hospital from August, 2022 to July,2023 were selected to test levels of serum TC,TG,HDL-C,and LDL-C,which were the indicators of blood lipids. The results were tested for normality, while outliers were removed, and appropriate levels of TC,TG,HDL-C,and LDL-C were established according to the American Association for Laboratory Standardization (CLSI)C28-A3 document and the relevant requirements of the International Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (IFCC).Results In this population, there were differences between men and women in all lipid indicators included in the study, with TC and LDL-C showed an increasing trend with age, while TG and HDL-C showed insignificant changes with age.The appropriate levels of TC for men and women were 3.03-6.60mmol/L and 2.84-6.09mmol/L,respectively;The appropriate levels of TG for men and women were 0.56-3.94mmol/L and 0.45-2.64mmol/L, respectively; The appropriate levels of HDL-C for men and women were 0.66-1.49mmol/L,0.80-1.71 HDL-C levels were 0.66-1.49mmol/L and 0.80-1.71mmol/L for men and women,respectively;LDL-C levels were 1.51-4.56mmol/L and 1.29-3.88mmol/L for men and women, respectively. Conclusion In this study, the appropriate levels of lipid indices for apparently healthy Tibetan adults in the Sichuan Plateau region are established. The laboratories should set up their own appropriate levels for targeting population, which will be more conducive for guiding the clinical diagnosis and treatment.
