The Analysis of a Case with Abnormally Increase of Serum T3 and FT3 Values
A routine health examination patient showed abnormal increases in triiodothyronine (T3 ) and free triiodothyronine (FT3 )levels. After 48 hours, fasting venous blood was collected again from the patient and T3 and FT3 detection values decreased.Through repeated measurements and comparison of equipment from different laboratories, testing errors were ruled out as the leading cause.Based on discussion, the case may be mild atypical subacute thyroiditis, but the T3 and FT3 results were abnormally high, and T4 ,FT4 ,TSH,ATG,A-TPO were normal. It is an extremely rare case in which collecting venous blood again in a short period of time to detect T3 and FT3 values, indicating continuous clinical observation and testing to avoid overtreatment. In addition, attention should be paid to the impact of drugs and endogenous factors on the test results to avoid the misdiagnosis.
