The Correlation Between Serum CCL21 and CYTL-1 Levels and Porphyromonas Gingivalis Infection and Periodontal Clinical Indicators in Patients with Chronic Periodontitis
Objective To investigate the correlation between serum levels of chemokine 21(CCL21)and cytokine like protein 1(CYTL-1)with porphyromonas gingivalis(PG)infection and periodontal clinical indicators in patients with chronic periodontitis(CP).Methods From June,2019 to May,2023,303 CP patients who visited our hospital were enrolled as the study subjects, while 206 non-CP patients were collected as the control group.CP patients were divided into the mild CP group(183 cases),moderate CP group(86 cases),and severe CP group(34 cases)based on the severity of their conditions. The differences in general information and periodontal indicators among groups were analyzed. The expression levels of CCL21 and CYTL-1 in serum were detected. The correlation between serum CCL21 and CYTL-1 expression levels and PG infection and periodontal clinical indicators was analyzed;ROC curve was drawn to analyze the diagnostic value of CCL21 and CYTL-1 for CP.Results The positive rate of PG in the experimental group(68.32%)was much higher than that in the control group(17.96%)(P<0.05).The expression level of serum CCL21 in the experimental group(270.82±33.77 pg/mL)was significantly higher than that in the control group(237.56±40.07 pg/mL)(P<0.05),while the expression level of serum CYTL-1(174.41± 29.85 ng/mL)was significantly lower than that in the control group(206.44±38.23 ng/mL)(P<0.05).As the condition of CP patients continued to worsen, the positive rate of PG,the expression level of serum CCL21,and periodontal indicators showed varying degrees of upward trend; The level of serum CYTL-1 showed a decreasing trend with the worsen of disease(P<0.05).The expression level of CCL21 was positively correlated with PG positive infection and periodontal indicators(r=0.566,0.486,0.444,0.417,0.528,all P<0.05);The expression level of CYTL-1 was negatively correlated with PG positive infection and periodontal indicators(r=-0.584,-0.451,-0.433,-0.407,-0.456,all P<0.05);The combined diagnosis of CP by both CCL21 and CYTL-1 was superior to each individual-index diagnosis(Z combination-CCL21=4.142,Z combination-CYTL-1=3.824;P<0.05).Conclusion The expression of CCL21 is up-regulated,while the expression of CYTL-1 is down-regulated in the serum of CP patients. Both markers are closely related to PG infection and periodontal clinical indicators, and the combination of the two has certain diagnostic value for CP.
