An Analysis of Characteristics of HPV Infection in 10 818 Healthy Examined Women in Dalian Area
Objective This study aimed to investigate the type and distribution of human papillomavirus(HPV)infection in women undergoing physical examination in Dalian area. The findings can be used as an epidemiological basis for preventing and treating cervical cancer. Methods 10 818 female health checkups were collected from Zhongshan Hospital of Dalian University between January,2023 and January,2024.DNA microarray technology was used to detect 23 HPV subtypes and to compare the infections and genotyping differences among various age groups. Results The HPV positivity rate among the 10818 samples was 9.69%(1048/10818),and the five HPV subtypes with the highest positivity rates were HPV16(1.80%,195/10818),HPV53(1.59%,172/10818),HPV52(1.20%,1300/10818),HPV81(1.15%,124/10 818),and HPV56(0.81%,88/10 818).The difference in positivity rates between different age groups was statistically significant(x2=24.494,P<0.01),with the highest HPV positivity rate in the ≥60 group(14.60%,79/541),followed by the 25 to 29-year-old group(13.07%,63/482),and the lowest HPV positivity rate in the 30 to 34-year-old group(8.78%,157/1 788).Among HPV-positive patients,75.29%(789/1048)were infected with a single subtype and 24.71%(259/1 048)were infected with multiple subtypes.HPV infections in all age groups were dominated by single infections, followed by dual infections, and the difference in the composition ratio was not statistically significant(x2=9.630,P>0.05).Conclusion During physical examinations of healthy women in Dalian area,Liaoning Province,we show that the HPV positivity rate is 9.69%.The five most common infection subtypes are high-risk HPV16,HPV53,HPV52,HPV56,and low-risk HPV81.One predominant high-risk type of infection is found in all age groups. The group of women aged 60 and above has the highest rate of HPV positivity and need to be closely monitored.
