The Research Progress of Insulin-like Growth Factor Binding Protein-4 in Colorectal Tumors
Colorectal cancer is one of the most common digestive system cancers, and the prognosis remains poor among patients with advanced or metastatic tumors. The insulin-like growth factor binding protein 4(IGFBP-4)is a multifunctional cell proliferation regulator with IGFBP domain and thyroglobulin type I domain, which plays an important role in bone development, cell proliferation, signal transduction and the regulation of cell growth. It has been shown to be involved in the aging process of organisms and the occurrence of many diseases. In colorectal tumors,IGFBP-4 can not only inhibit the proliferation, differentiation and growth of tumor cells by binding with insulin-like growth factor(IGF),but also can participate in the genesis and development of colorectal tumors through various signaling pathways, such as Wnt/β-catenin,IL-6,and Bcl-2/Bax.In light of this, the current study summarizes the recent research progress on the structure and function of IGFBP-4 and its relationship with the occurrence of colorectal tumors.
