An Analysis of the Results of External Quality Evaluation of Routine Biochemical Tests in Primary Medical Institutions and Secondary and Above Medical Institutions in Guizhou Province from 2019 to 2023
Objective By conducting a comprehensive analysis of the results obtained from the external quality assessment (EQA) conducted on routine biochemical projects between primary medical institutions and second level or above medical institutions in Guizhou Province during the period of 2019 to 2023,we aim to gain better insights into the various factors that influence the accuracy of laboratory testing and to subsequently enhance their laboratory testing capabilities. Methods We collected EQA data from primary medical institution laboratories participating in 23 routine biochemical projects EQA in Guizhou Province from 2019 to 2023 through the Clinet EQA system with online reporting results. We analyzed the participation rate and EQA qualification rate of each laboratory, and compared them with second level and above medical institution laboratories. We further analyzed the gap between primary medical institutions and second level and above medical institution laboratories, and identified potential reasons that affect the accuracy of final test results, and made improvements. Results The number of participating units in primary medical institutions and secondary and above medical institutions were increasing yearly, and the overall qualification rate of 56.52% of projects in primary medical institutions was on the rise. The qualification rates of primary medical institutions for CK projects in 2021 and DBIL projects in 2022 were higher than those of secondary and above medical institutions (x2=17.24,36.77,P<0.05).From 2019 to 2023,the qualification rates of secondary and above medical institutions for routine biochemical projects were higher than those of primary medical institutions (x2=3.91-114.62,P<0.05),and the laboratory testing capabilities of primary medical institutions were relatively poor. Conclusion The quality management of primary medical institution laboratories is still a weak component of the system, suggesting that strengthening the quality management of primary medical institution laboratories is of great significance for improving the testing capabilities of primary laboratories.
