A Study on the Results of Vaginal Secretions of Elderly Women in Physical Examination Population
Objective To study and analyze the condition of vaginal cleanliness and pathogen infection in elderly women. Methods The results of vaginal secretions of 3 198 elderly women who visited our nursing home for physical examination from December,2022 to November,2023 were retrospectively analyzed. Results Among 3198 vaginal secretions,we detected 2417 cases(75.6%)with degree Ⅰ to Ⅱ cleanliness,781 cases(24.4%)with degree Ⅲ to Ⅳ cleanliness,16 cases(0.5%)with fungi,0 cases(0.0%)with trichomonas and 30 cases(0.9%)with clue cells. The cleanliness Ⅲ-Ⅳ detection rate in 60-74 years old group was significantly higher than that in 75-89 years old group(P<0.05).The detection rate of cleanliness degree Ⅲ to Ⅳ was significantly higher in winter than in spring(P<0.001),summer(P<0.0083),and autumn(P<0.001),while summer was significantly higher than autumn(P<0.0083).The detection rate of leukocyte in vaginal secretions in 60-74 years old group was significantly higher than that in 75-89 group(P<0.05).The detection rate of clue cells in different seasons was significantly different(P<0.05),and the rate in summer was significantly higher than that in autumn(P<0.0083).Conclusion The vaginal cleanliness degrees of elderly women in the physical examination population decrease, and the infection rates of fungi, trichomonas and bacteria are not high. The detection rate of abnormal vaginal cleanliness in 60-74 years old women is relatively higher. The detection rate of abnormal cleanliness is higher in winter, and the bacterial infection rate is higher in summer.
