The Diagnostic Value of CT and MRI in Thoracic Vertebra Occupation Lesion
Objective To analyze and evaluate the diagnosis performance of computerized tomography(CT)and magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)in the thoracic spine occupation lesion. Methods The clinical data of 47 patients with occupation lesion in the thoracic spine treated in Beijing Shijitan Hospital,Capital Medical University from January,2013 to December,2023 were retrospectively analyzed. All patients underwent surgical treatment, and preoperative thoracic spine CT and MRI were performed.Pathological results of these patients were used as the gold diagnostic standard. The differences among CT,MRI,and the gold diagnostic standard for thoracic vertebral lesions were then analyzed.Results(2)Among 47 patients with thoracic vertebral lesions,22 were diagnosed with thoracic vertebral tuberculosis,16 with thoracic vertebral tumors, and 9 with inflammatory lesions of the thoracic vertebrae.(2)The sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy of CT in diagnosing thoracic vertebral tuberculosis were 81.82%,96.00%,and 89.36%,respectively.The sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy of MRI in diagnosing thoracic vertebral tuberculosis were 100%,96.00%,and 97.87%,respectively.There was no significant difference in specificity and accuracy between CT and MRI results in diagnosing thoracic vertebral tuberculosis(P>0.05),but the sensitivity of MRI in diagnosing thoracic vertebral tuberculosis was significantly higher than that of CT(P<0.05).(3)The sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy of CT in diagnosing thoracic vertebral tumors were 87.50%,96.77%,and 93.62%,respectively.The sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy of MRI in diagnosing thoracic vertebral tumors were 93.75%,96.77%,and 95.74%,respectively.There was no significant difference in sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy between CT and MRI results in diagnosing thoracic vertebral tumors(P>0.05).Conclusion Both CT and MRI show good diagnostic performances in diagnosing thoracic vertebral lesions and can effectively diagnose thoracic vertebral tuberculosis and thoracic vertebral tumors.MRI test has a higher sensitivity in diagnosing thoracic vertebral tuberculosis.
