An Analysis of Clinical Data Related to Immunofixation Electrophoresis and Serum Protein Electrophoresis Detection
Objective To analyze the clinical data of 8 721 cases immunofixation electrophoresis(IFE)from 2022 to 2023,so as to provide a reference basis for the diagnosis of various disease. Methods We conducted detections of IFE in 8721 patients who visited our hospital from January,2022 to July,2023 using the Sebia hydrasys 2 electrophoresis instrument, and then performed statistical analysis of its relevant clinical data. Results Among 8721 cases of IFE results,2135 cases(24.48%)were positive, while 6,586 cases(75.52%)were negative. In positive results, the highest proportion was IgG-κ type(30.07%).There were differences in the main types of IFE among the top five departments with the highest positive rate, and there were also differences in the main types of IFE among different disease types.951 IFE positive patients were tested for serum protein electrophoresis(SPEP),and the main types of IFE in different zones of M protein were different.Furthermore, different types of M proteins in SPEP γ zone were correlated with total protein(TP)content. There was no significant correlation between the content of urinary light chain κ and IFE results for different diseases. While the content of urinary light chain λ was related to IFE results of patients with MM and renal insufficiency, but not to other diseases. The expressions of blood light chain κ and λ in IFE positive patients were significantly higher than that in negative patients. Conclusion There are differences in the main types of IFE among different departments and diseases, and the types of M proteins in the SPEP γ zone are related to TP content.Additionally, both urinary and serum light chains are correlated with IFE results. These results could provide a reference basis for the clinical diagnosis of related diseases.
