Using Big Data to Establish the Reference Interval of Platelets in Pidu District of Chengdu City
Objective To use Big data to establish the population reference interval of Platelet(PLT)indicators in Pidu District of Chengdu City. Methods A total of 47392 cases of Pidu District TCM Hospital in Chengdu from 2020 to 2023 were selected as the research objects. The platelet concentration was measured by XN-100(B3)and(B4).The normality of obtained dataset was checked using the K-S test, and non-normal data were converted to approximate normal using BOX-COX,while outliers were removed by the interquartile spacing method.Differences between sex groups were compared using the non-parametric Mann-Whitney U test. The non-parametric method was used to establish the population reference interval and calculate the relative deviation from the reference interval based on the industry standard WS/T405-2012 of the Health Center of the National Health Commission, with reliable results less than the reference change value(reference change value,RCV).Results The valid PLT data included in the analysis were 4 739,22812 males and 18580 females, with statistically significant differences in platelet number between sexes, and reference interval was established between sex groups. The reference intervals for male and female were 102 × 109/L-338 × 109/L and 101 × 109/L-354 × 109/L,respectively,and the relative deviation from the industry standard was less than the RCV value. Conclusion The platelet reference interval established by indirect method based on big data is not significantly different from the reference interval recommended by the Clinical Inspection Center of the National Health Commission. The use of population reference interval is more conducive to the diagnosis and treatment of platelet-related diseases in the Pidu District.
