A Case Report of AIDS Associated Kaposi Sarcoma Infected with Amoeba Entamoba Histolytica
The reported patient is a 32 year old male with transient fever accompanied by purplish red nodular rash for over 6 months. The patient is with HIV positive and stage Ⅱ syphilis.Currently, the patient is receiving oral treatment with lamivudine, everalen, and tenofovir fumarate dipivoxime tablets.Kaposi's sarcoma(TI11S1)was found in throat, skin, lymph nodes, lungs, and digestive tract, and is treated with C1-2paclitaxel(paclitaxel).After patient's admission, routine fecal examination was performed, and it was found that Entamoeba histolyticus was encapsulated. After oral treatment with metronidazole, the result turned negative after 4 days. Our study suggests that in clinical practice, when the patient's fecal examination shows the presence of amoebic cysts or trophoblasts, regardless of whether the patient has symptoms related to amoebic enteritis, active treatments are necessary.
