A Study on Influencing Factors of False Decrease of Pyruvate
Objective To identify and evaluate the potential interference factors on pyruvate detection results before analysis in view of the clinical cases of false decrease of pyruvate, and to optimize the detection pipeline to ensure the detection quality. Methods Blood samples were collected by separating gel collection tube and heparin anticoagulant tube respectively, and the change rate of pyruvate for different sample turnover time(TAT),cold storage and room temperature storage conditions were analyzed. Results There was a statistically significant difference in the change rate of pyruvate between heparin anticoagulant tube and separating gel collection tube at 30 minutes and 60 minutes without centrifugation(P<0.05).There was a statistically significant difference in the change rate of pyruvate between heparin anticoagulant tube and separating gel collection tube at 30 minutes,60 minutes and 120 minutes under centrifugal conditions(P<0.05).There was a statistically significant difference between cold and room temperature storage conditions in the non-centrifuged separated gel blood collection tubes(P<0.05).Conclusion The influencing factors of false decrease in pyruvate detection results mainly include blood collection tube types, sample turnover time and storage temperature conditions. It was recommended to use separation gel to collect blood tubes, and centrifuge them within 30 minutes after storage at room temperature, and the test results are expected to be more stable with these optimization steps.
