Cloning and bioinformatic analysis of GAI in the five Malus species
[Objective]Our research is aimed to study the functions of GAIs,members of DELLA protein family,in regulating the plant architecture.[Methods]In this study,GAIs,were isolated from the five Malus sp.cultivars ('Ralls Janet','Honanensis Rehd','SH6','Belgium weeping','Belgium upright'),and their sequence analyses were performed by lots of bioinformatic tools.[Results]The results indicated that the full length CDSs of GAIs of these five Malus cultivars were 1 875 bp,encoding 624 amino acids. As to each gene, genomic sequence of GAI w a s the same as its CDS sequence.GAI protein was hydrophilic and mainly located in the cytoplasm.Multiple sequence alignment indicated that GAI proteins of the five Malus sp.cultivars presented high sequence homology, especially at DELLA and GRAS Super-family typical domains.[Conclusion]The study showed that GAI might play important regulatory roles in the formation of Malus tree architecture.
