How does rural homestay Constructionreshape village space-Based on empirical research of Dongping Village rural homestays in Henan Province
[Objective]To build modern rural homestays relying on rural residential areas has become one of the typical ways to promote rural revitalization in China.[Methods]Based on the perspective of spatial production theory, this paper attempts to discuss the spatial production of rural residential areas as homestays under the background of rural revitalization by analyzing a typical rural homestay in Henan Province.[Results]It is found that the essence of rural homestay development is the creation of new consumption space led by capital.Capital and power jointly dominate the development process of rural homestays,transfor-ming the traditional rural settlement space into a consumption space for tourists, and triggering significant spatial changes:On the one hand,it changes the physical space of rural settlement, namely the spatial layout, structure and function of the village;on the other hand,it changes the social space of the village, causing the transformation of villagers'livelihood and the change of daily life, cultivating the competitive social relations of villagers, and causing multiple problems such as class differentiation and interest conflict in the rural society. The rural homestay development has also produced certain spatial effects and social reac-tions,which are accompanied by the issues of spatial injustice such as subject marginalization, space deprivation, space exclusion and unbalanced development. This shows that the rural space production driven by capital is a double-edged sword.[Conclusion]Therefore,we must balance the relationship between capital appreciation and villagers'interests, correct the negative effects such as spatial value alienation, and actively explore the development model of residential accommodation based on the principle of spatial justice.
