The Identity Embarrassment and Legal Regulation of Police Stun Guns
Police officers face high personal safety risks in law enforcement activities such as stopping illegal and criminal activities,and the effectiveness of using conventional police equipment such as batons and chili water to suppress violent behavior is limited. Some local police departments have piloted the use of police stun guns to deal with violent acts,but the status of stun guns has not yet been determined by legislation. The nature of police stun guns should be attributed to non-lethal police equipment,and their performance has the advantages of fast braking and minimal damage compared to existing police equipment and weapons. The legal rules for police stun guns in the countries other than China mainly focus on usage procedures,usage conditions,and management systems. Our country should legislate to determine the classification of police stun guns,standardize the conditions and procedures for their use,and improve the supervision mechanism for the use of police stun guns.
