Investigation on the Current Status of Professional Identity among Freshmen Majoring in Nursing in Higher Vocational Colleges——Taking Two Higher Vocational Colleges in Beijing as Examples
Understanding the current status of professional identity among freshmen majoring in nurs-ing in higher vocational colleges and its influencing factors,as well as implementing intervention measures to enhance this identity,is of paramount significance for the development of the nursing profession. A ques-tionnaire survey was conducted among 410 nursing students from two higher vocational colleges in Beijing. The study revealed that the professional identity of nursing freshmen in these colleges is at a moderate lev-el,with male students demonstrating a higher level of professional identity compared to their female coun-terparts. The primary reasons for choosing the nursing major, the admission methods, and the positions held within the school community were found to be closely related to the students' professional identity. It is suggested that nursing educators should intensify their research on interventions aimed at improving the level of professional identity among nursing freshmen in higher vocational colleges, guiding them towards continuous enhancement of their professional competencies and fostering a deep sense of professional senti-ment,thereby elevating the quality of nursing professional talent cultivation.
