The Changing Characterizations,Current Dilemmas,and Future Directions of the Role of Grassroots Physical Education Teachers and Researchers in China
Grassroots PE teachers and researchers in China are an important force in ensuring the reform of physi-cal education in the primary and secondary stage of basic education,the professional development of physical edu-cation teachers,and the quality of physical education curriculum and teaching.This paper adopts research meth-ods such as literature review and qualitative interviews,using the"should be"dimension and combining with the textual context of the landmark teaching and research system established over 70 years after the founding of New China,to examine the diachronic patterns of the roles of sports teaching and research personnel in China during three historical periods,demonstrating their changing characteristics of roles from"the incubation and generation"to"the differentiation and derivation"and then to"the gradual improvement and professional development".From the perspective of"reality",this paper analyzes the actual situation of PE teaching and research work in primary and secondary schools.It is found that physical education teaching and research personnel face the practical dilem-mas:confusion of role recognition and behavior habits solidification due to the lack of professional systems,result-ing in slow role transformation;weak role presentation caused by insufficient theoretical foundation and weakened role functions due to diverse educational resources.Exploring the practical needs of educational concepts and social expectations in the new era from the perspective of"ability and nature",it is believed that PE teachers and researchers should become the optimizer of the teaching staff under the expectation of professional development of PE teachers,the leaders of teaching and research innovation under the high-quality development of school physical education,the pioneers of subject construction under the deepening reform of PE curriculum,and the reformers of school-based teaching under the demands of the revolutionary era of PE classroom,in order to strengthen the pro-fessional role and function of grassroots PE teachers and researchers,and demonstrate their professional influence and reputation.
