The Memory Landscape,Discourse Characteristics and Practical Logic of the Spirit of the Chinese Women's Volleyball Team on Social Media:An Empirical Study Based on Sina Weibo(2009-2024)
Using content analysis and semantic network analysis,this study explores the construction of media mem-ory related to the"the Spirit of the Chinese Women's Volleyball Team"on Sina Weibo,a popular social media plat-form.It is found that Weibo has formed a multi-dimensional memory of the spiritual discourse of Chinese women's volleyball team,tending to portray positive memories through affirmative discourse rather than negative sentiments.In terms of memory production,a collaborative effort across diverse contexts has shaped a comprehensive memory of the women's volleyball spirit.The open-ended and micro-narratives of social media users continue to expand the boundaries of media memory related to this spirit,driving the spread of media memory from mainstream culture to fan subcultures.Based on the discourse practice logic,it is further argued that while the rise of individual expres-sion in social media memory writing strengthens self-value construction at the individual level,it still adheres to the main melody narrative at the collective level.For the future inheritance of women's volleyball spirit or Chinese sports spirit,it is suggested to coordinate multiple actors in constructing media memories,leverage the role of foun-dational memories,place the production of media memories within various discourse contexts,prioritize the reorgan-ization of existing content,and effectively guide values in the writing of sports memories to prevent the negative im-pacts of conflicting memories.
