How Does Urbanization Affect Sports Lottery Sales?——A Study Based on Data from 103 Prefecture-Level Cities in China
Urbanization is an important driving force for the prosperity and development of the sports lottery industry.Based on the panel data of prefecture-level cities from 2016 to 2020,this paper uses empirical tools such as multi-ple linear regression and instrumental variables to explore the relationship between urbanization and sports lottery sales,and to systematically identify the mechanism underlying the role of urbanization in promoting sports lottery sales growth from three dimensions:individual income growth,industrial structure upgrading,and increased finan-cial pressure.The results reveal that an increase in the urbanization level significantly contributes to the growth of sports lottery sales,with individual income growth,industrial structure upgrading and increased fiscal pressure being the main influencing factors.The positive impact of urbanization on sports lottery sales is more obvious in mid-western and northern cities with less favorable economic development conditions.Based on the results of the empiri-cal analysis,this paper proposes suggestions on policies including scientific formulation of differentiated marketing strategies for sports lottery,continuous attention to the positive impact of financial expenditures,and promotion of coordinated development of sports lottery industry and related industries,to facilitate the healthy and sustainable de-velopment of sports lottery market.
