A Study on the Development of School Hygiene and Health Education in China from the Perspective of a Century-long Academic History
In the context of vigorously developing"quality education"and promoting the"all-round development"of students,this study systematically reviews the centennial context and characteristics of the development of school hygiene and health education in China,analyzes its main achievements and main problems,and delves into the fu-ture trend of its development.This endeavor aims to address societal concerns regarding the"inadequate health lit-eracy levels among students."The study found that the development of school hygiene and health education in China has gone through four stages:initial emergence and ascent,sustained progress through exploration and adaptation,regenerative transformation and reform,and deep-rooted shaping in the Chinese context.Over the past century,ef-forts in nurturing talents in this field have intensified,with the curriculum content system becoming increasingly comprehensive.The coordinated promotion mechanism of school hygiene and health education has been progressively optimized,with curriculum practice models trending towards interdisciplinary integration.Notably,the effectiveness of school hygiene and health education has become evident,with curriculum design and class schedu-ling alignment steadily enhancing.However,there are also some problems,such as insufficient discipline specificity and a lack of intensification at the content level,insufficient innovation and limited implementation pathways and carriers at the methodological level,and inadequate class scheduling and inadequate channels for converting prob-lem-oriented research findings into practice at the support level.In the future,school hygiene and health education should judiciously formulate and optimize the curriculum content,balancing the disciplinary specificity and content coherence of school hygiene and health education.Additionally,there is a need to broaden the implementation channels and carriers of the curriculum,comprehensively strenghening the capacity of school health education and health services.Furthermore,it is imperative to standardize the allocation of class hours for school hygiene and health education,emphasizing its significance and value.Lastly,a problem-oriented approach should be upheld to expedite the application and transformation of scientific research in school health and health education.
