Cultural Interpretation and Identity Construction of Dai Le People's Kinnara Divine Bird Dance in Northern Thailand
The Kinnara Divine Bird Dance in Northern Thailand is a form of expression of Dai Le people's ethnic culture,embodying their spiritual beliefs,customs,and aesthetic taste.It is rooted in the cultural habitat on which the Dai Le people depend on their survival.Based on the investigation at eight field sites in Northern Thailand,this paper studies the Kinnara Divine Bird Dance and uses the research methods of dance ecology to delve into its cultural connotations.It finds that as a cultural symbol of the Dai Le people,the Kinnara Divine Bird Dance plays a crucial role in the recent cultural revival movement,which has flourished in recent years.It serves as a bond for the Dai Le people to reinforce their cultural identity,enhance cultural confidence,and strengthen homeland bond.
