Chinese dance societies have developed in Southeast Asia for over 100 years and have become an integral part of overseas Chinese communities.Through the literature review and field investigation,this paper analyzes the types,characteristics,and functions of contemporary Southeast Asian Chinese dance societies.It reveals that these societies serve as important carriers for disseminating Chinese culture abroad,showing patterns of a long history,diverse types,uneven distribution,varying scales,and differing levels.With the"Belt and Road Initiatives",Chinese dance societies will continue to play a greater role as cultural bridges in telling the"Chinese story"and promoting the overseas dissemination of Chinese culture across Southeast Asia and the world.
