A Brief Discussion on the Historical Writings of Monks in the Song Dynasty
The monks of the Song Dynasty achieved a high level of achievement in historiography,on the one hand they adopted a diverse structure for historical writing,and on the other hand their system of historical evaluation gradually became a state of perfection.This situation benefits not only from the learning of secular methods of history compilation,but also from the creative development of internal theories in Buddhism.The achievements of Song Monk in history indicate that Buddhism at that time had entered a new level of development,namely,the stage of comprehensive cleaning of past figures,systems,etc.in order to gain the rightful power of discourse and obtain sectarian orthodoxy.
