From Elite to Civilian:On the Maintenance Effect of Chivalrous Swordsmen on the "Yi" Culture of Warring States
"Yi"is the consensus concept during the Warring States period,and chivalry,as a part of"Yi",played a certain role in maintaining the"Yi"culture during the Warring States period.In the Warring States Period,the chivalrous swordsmen from elite won the recognition of many vassal states with their concept of"giving up their official positions and getting close to friends"and their behavior of"helping others",and had a pivotal position in the political level.The chivalrous swordsmen among the civilians continued the core concept of"giving up their official positions and getting close to friends"of the chivalrous swordsman from elite,valuing fairness and justice over the political posi-tion,which was widely pursued by the public,and chivalry became the common value of the general social level.Chivalrous and patriarchal concept of"Yi"complement each other,The patriarchal con-cept of"being close to family and respecting those in power"was recognized as the official norm for the identification of"Yi"culture,while the chivalrous concept of"giving up their official positions and getting close to friends"was recognized as the folk norm for the identification of"Yi"culture,both of them constructed the historical structure of the"Yi"culture identity during the Warring States peri-od,which has had a profound influence on the national identity of the Chinese ethnic group.
