All the existing copies of Yangchun Collection by Feng Yansi come from the Jiayou copy by Chen Shixiu in the Northern Song Dynasty,in which there are many cross-referenced works therefore,its authenticity has been widely questioned and disputed by later scholars.Through the a-nalysis of Chen's preface and combined with his biography,it is clear that Chen has no motive for for-gery and that his preface is credible,while the phenomenon of many cross-referenced works in the Jiayou copy may be caused by the fact that Chen"kept doubtful materials as they were"with the aim to value his great-grandfather.In addition,the Yangchun Collection was compiled by Feng himself,and there are many good copies of the record in the Southern Song Dynasty.It is more reliable than Ouyang Xiu's poetry collection,which was edited by others after his death and had a large number of cross-referenced works.For this reason,over ten works in the Yangchun Collection that are cross ref-erenced with Ouyang's collection should be attributed to Feng's works.
