Analysis of influencing factors of severe pertussis in infants
Objective To explore the influencing factors of severe pertussis in infants. Methods A total of 224 pertussis infants in Yinchuan Women and Children Healthcare Hospital from January 2020 to December 2022 were selected, and were divided into severe pertussis group (36 cases) and non-severe pertussis group (188 cases). The influencing factors of severe pertussis in infants was analyzed by multivariate logistic regression. Results Among 224 pertussis infants, there were 106 males and 118 females, aged from 30 to 348 days, with an average of (113±56) days.Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that the younger age (OR=1.045,95%CI:1.010-1.082,P=0.011),the infants who had not been vaccinated with pertussis vaccine (OR=6.705,95%CI:4.453-8.957,P=0.012) and the infants who had increased respiratory work (OR=15.471,95%CI:13.081-17.860,P=0.025) had higher risk of severe illness. Conclusions Younger age,not vaccinated with pertussis vaccine and increased respiratory work are the risk factors for severe pertussis in infant.
