Analysis of influencing factors of recurrence in patients with benign paroxysmal positional vertigo
Objective To explore the comorbidities and influencing factors of recurrence in patients with benign paroxysmal positional vertigo(BPPV).Methods A total of 669 BPPV patients in Beijing Puren Hospital from April 2022 to March 2023 were selected retrospectively, and were divided into recurrence group(110 cases)and non-recurrence group(559 cases)according to the recurrence, and the comorbidity and influencing factors of BPPV recurrence were analyzed. Results Among 669 patients with BPPV,there were 190 males and 479 females, aged from 20 to 100 years, with a median age of 64(57,70)years.BPPV patients were more common in female(71.6%),elderly(67.7%)and with comorbidities(70.7%).The top six diseases with the highest prevalence were hypertension(37.8%),hyperlipidemia(33.8%),mental illness(31.1%),diabetes(15.7%),cardiovascular disease(12.6%)and abnormal bone metabolism(12.1%).Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that BPPV patients with abnormal bone metabolism(OR=2.458,95%CI:1.448-4.171,P=0.001)had higher risk of recurrence. Conclusions Abnormal bone metabolism is a risk factor for recurrence of BPPV patients, and the proportion of patients with BPPV comorbidity is high.It is suggested that multiple disciplines should participate in the clinical management of patients.
