Explore the reentry of reactive blood donors in blood screening test
Objective To explore the reentry of reactive blood donors in blood screening test in Shaoxing, the factors affecting the success of the reentry and the risks associated with the successful reentry of blood donors were analyzed. Methods A total of 219 blood donors who applied for reentry in Blood Center of Shaoxing from October 2017 to October 2023 were selected. The results of the reentry and the factors affecting the success of the reentry were analyzed, and the screening results of the successful reentry of blood donors were analyzed when they donated again. Results A total of 124 of the 219 blood donors who applied for reentry were successful, and the rate of successful reentry was 56.62%.The main reentry of blood donors were male and repeat blood donors(62.56%and 81.28%respectively),the aged from 30 to 39,reactivity on nucleic acid test and the shielding time from 6 to 12 months were the highest(37.90%,38.36%and 42.01%respectively)in all blood donors who applied for reentry. There was no significant difference in the successful reentry rate among blood donors of different gender, different age and different blood donation times(P>0.05).There were significant difference in the successful reentry rate between antigen/antibody reactive blood donors on ELISA and reactive blood donors on nucleic acid test, and between different shielding time(P<0.05).A total of 54 of the 124 blood donors who were successful reentry(43.55%)donated again, while the proportion of the nucleic acid reactive blood donors who were tested reactive again after successfully reentry was higher than that of ELISA antigen/antibody reactive blood donors(23.53%vs.2.70%),and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusions The blood donors who are male, repeat blood donation, the age between 30 to 39 years old, nucleic acid reactivity, shielding time between 6 to 12 months are more willing to enter the reentry procedure. The successful reentry rate of antigen/antibody reactive blood donors on ELISA is higher than that of on nucleic acid test. The risk of the reentry of reactive blood donors on nucleic acid test is higher, and need to be cautious.
