Study on the synergetic protection of Ganoderma lucidum Extract (GLE) and Vitamin E in mice with high fat and high sugar diet
ObjectiveTo observe the synergetic protection of Ganoderma lucidum extract(GLE) and Vitamin E in mice with high fat and high sugar diet. Methods Sixty SPF ICR mice with 6-8 week old were randomly divided into control group, model group,Ganoderma lucidum extract(GLE) group,Vitamin E group and complex group. After pretreatment with gavage for 8 continuous weeks, the mice eyeballs were executed for the sampling of blood in order to detect SOD,MDA,GSH-Px and T-AOC,as well as TG,TC,HDL-C,and LDL-C,and observe the morphologic changes of liver. Results Compared with the model group, the level of HDL-C of rats with high fat high sugar diet was increased and the contents of MDA and TC decreased in Ganoderma lucidum extract (GLE) group;the activities of SOD,GSH-Px,and T-AOC and the level of HDL-C were increased and the contents of MDA,TC,and LDL-C decreased in complex group.Hematoxylin-eosin staining (HE) showed the arrangements of the liver cells were trim with even staining. The model group showed a large range of hepatocyte fatty-change with fat vacuole. The experimental groups HE showed less fat pathological changes in liver compared with the model group only with small area of nuclear variation. Conclusion Ganoderma lucidum extract (GLE) and Vitamin E have synergetic protection on the mice with high fat and high sugar diet.
