Objective To observe the effect of Chaihu Shulang Powder combined with mesalazine on the anxiety-depression status, symptoms, and quality of life in patients with moderate ulcerative colitis(UC).Methods A retrospective study was conducted on 137 UC patients who were treated at the Affiliated Hospital of Jiangxi University of Chinese Medicine from January 2018 to December 2022.According to the treatment plan, patients were divided into two groups:the control group(82 cases)and the observation group(55 cases). The control group was treated with oral mesalazine(2 g per dose,3 times per day). The observation group received the same mesalazine treatment, with the addition of Chaihu Shulang Powder(1 packet per dose,2 times per day). One treatment course lasted 14 days, and the total treatment duration was 2 courses. The Hamilton Anxiety Scale(HAMA),Hamilton Depression Scale(HAMD),Modified Mayo Score, and Inflammatory Bowel Disease Questionnaire(IBDQ)scores were compared between the two groups before and after treatment. Results After treatment, both the HAMA and HAMD scores decreased in both groups(P<0.05),with the observation group showing significantly lower scores than the control group(P<0.05).The Mayo and IBDQ scores also improved in both groups(P<0.05),with the observation group showing better results than the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Chaihu Shulang Powder combined with mesalazine can significantly improve the anxiety-depression status, symptoms, and quality of life in patients with moderate UC,and its effect is superior to mesalazine treatment alone.
