Chronic cough,characterized by recurrent and prolonged attacks,is a common condition in respiratory medicine.Drawing on the research findings of our team on chronic cough in the past 20 years,we propose that"wind evils lurking in the lung and affecting the other zangfu organs"constitute important pathogenesis.The understanding of the theory of"wind evils lurking in the lung"can be divided into internal and external aspects.The interaction of internal and external evils can affect multiple organs such as the lung,spleen,liver,and kidney,resulting in persistent and recurrent cough.Therefore,a comprehensive approach is essential in treatment.This article delves into the zangfu-related pathogenesis of chronic cough based on the theory of"wind evils lurking in the lung",aiming to provide more insights and method to enhance the academic depth of traditional Chinese medicine in treating chronic cough.
