The effect of the feed rate of the new vertical filter press on the unit capacity and the volume fraction of sediment in the filter cake has not yet been fully revealed. Therefore, the mud press filtration process in the filter chamber of vertical filter press was studied, and the influence of sediment movement rule and feeding rate on filtration efficiency was obtained using Fluent fluid simulation soft-ware. When the feeding rate is lower than 0. 4 m/s, the filter chamber of the vertical filter press is not filled with mud, and the unit ca-pacity of the filter press is low. When the feeding rate is greater than 0. 8 m/s, the phenomenon of"bridging"will occur in the filter chamber, and the material will overflow from the feeding port. After analysis, it can be concluded that when the optimal feeding rate is 0. 6m /s, The vertical filter press has the maximum capacity per unit time, and the volume fraction of sediment in the filter cake can reach 90%.
