Research progress of viscosity measurement methods of high temperature melts
Viscosity measurement plays a significant role in many fields, especially for high-temperature melt viscosity. The selection of an appropriate measurement method is essential for both the investigation of the rheological properties of melts and the guidance of in-dustrial production. At present, the introduction of viscosity measurement methods for high-temperature melts is not clear or compre-hensive enough in the reported literature. For example, the basic principles are only vaguely introduced;the use of the temperature range and the measurement accuracy are missing;and the specific types of high-temperature melts for which the various viscosity meas-urement methods are applicable are not adequately described.Based on the existing viscosity measurement methods, this study focuses on the research progress of the capillary method, the oscillation method, the falling ball method and the rotation method in the field of viscosity measurement of high-temperature melts,as well as analyzes and compares the special parallel plate method and the hanging wire method in detail. Moreover, the hot-stage observation method,a new method for measuring the viscosity of high-temperature melts,is introduced. On this basis, the basic principles, measuring temperature intervals and accuracy ranges of each measurement method are comprehensively analyzed and compared. Finally, the main problems of the current methods for measuring the viscosity of high-temperature melts are highlighted and future development and exploration directions are prospected.
