Study on the Triptych Bowl Unearthed from the Heritage Site at the Ancient Government Seat of Luxian County,Beijing
In 2017,during the archaeological excavation of the eastern burial area outside the heritage site at the ancient government seat of Luxian,a triptych bowl with clay gray pottery, paint in red,and a handle was unearthed in a brick chamber tomb M6 of the Eastern Han Dynasty. This artifact is composed of three bowls of basically the same shape as a single body, and the whole is in the shape of a"品"or triangle, and the interior is not connected.A comprehensive examination of the other burial artifacts accompanying it and the shape of M6,it is concluded that this triptych bowl is the most special factor in the whole tomb.At the same time, this triptych bowl is one of the few conjoined artifacts found in archaeology in Beijing, which is of great value for understanding the archaeological and cultural features of the Han Dynasty in Beijing from the aspects of burial artifacts and cultural factors.Combined with the excavation and development context of the conjoined vessels, considering the factors such as the same era, geographical proximity, favorable transportation, and archaeological and cultural exchange origins, the direct source of this triptych bowl is inferred to belong to the Mancheng area of Jizhou. It is used for holding various semi-solid foods or solid foods of appropriate size.
