A Textual Study of Han Dynasty's Portraits Collected in the National Museum of China
The two most important collections of Han Dynasty's portraits in the National Museum of China were respectively in the 1950s and 1980s to 1990s.Those collections can be defined the first,third or general grade.By comparing the collection of portraits by relevant cultural institutions and museums in Beijing,we can see among which the National Museum of China has a strong advantage in the collection of Han Dynasty's portraits,and is full of characteristics in its exhibition and research.Among them,the Han Dynasty's portraits derived from important archaeological excavation projects cover the first batch of Han tomb portrait materials excavated in several major Han painting areas in the 1950s,including many high-quality works with high archaeological value.The rubbings of portraits unearthed from old collections of famous artists have high academic value such as historical data and art.Han Dynasty's Portraits have unique academic and application values,which should be fully applied to museum exhibitions and research,to exert its due social value.
