A Research on the Impacts of Policy-based Agricultural Insurance on Green Production of Farmers—Based on survey data of wheat growers in four provinces of China
The green transformation of agricultural production methods is an important foundation for ensuring the sustainable de-velopment of agriculture and enhancing the competitiveness of Chinese agriculture. It is of significant importance to study the im-pact of agricultural insurance policies on farmers'green production behaviors. This article constructed a theoretical framework for analyzing the impact of agricultural insurance policies on farmers'green production behaviors.Based on the differences in impact pathways, agricultural insurance affected green production through three aspects:the chemical input reduction effect, the income protection effect, and the operational regulation effect. And based on survey data from 539 wheat growers in four provinces(Henan,Shandong,Anhui, and Heilongjiang)in China, empirical testing was conducted using the propensity score matching method. The results indicated that participating in agricultural insurance could enhance farmers'green planting behavior, and the green production promotion effect of agricultural insurance was significant.Mechanism analysis showed that agricultural insurance mainly promoted farmers'green production decisions by increasing the proportion of agricultural income and improving the stabili-ty of agricultural production inputs. Therefore, the article suggests further expanding the coverage of agricultural insurance, actively harnessing the income protection effect of agricultural insurance, reducing the risks of farmers'green production transformation, and strengthening the effective connection and coordination between agricultural insurance and green production in agriculture.
