Research Progress in Plant Fibre Reinforced PHBV and PBAT Degradable Composites
Since the plant fiber has been widely used in reinforcing degradable composites, the work aims to investigate the advantages and potential of plant fiber as reinforcing material in improving the comprehensive properties of poly(3-hydroxybutyrate-3-hydroxyvalerate)(PHBV)and poly(butylene adipate-co-terephthalate)(PBAT)degradable composites. The progress of research on the reinforcement of two biodegradable polymers,PHBV and PBAT,with various types of plant fibers was reviewed. The comprehensive performance of the composites was analyzed and compared, and their application properties and prospects were summarized. The application of plant fibers as reinforcement in biodegradable polymers such as PHBV and PBAT had significant advantages and potentials.By selecting suitable fibers and applying surface modification techniques, biodegradable composites with excellent comprehensive performance could be prepared to meet the needs of different applications. In conclusion, future research should focus on the development of biodegradable composites with high strength, water resistance, and functionalities such as antimicrobial and antioxidant properties, water and gas barrier properties, and flame retardant properties,so as to promote the wide application of plant fibre-reinforced biodegradable composites in more fields.
