Food packaging prevents food from being affected by external factors and keeps food properties,and it has the function of convenient transportation,beautiful utility and advertisement. With the improvement of living standards,the demand for food packaging materials is becoming more and more safe, environmental and healthy.Plastics,glasses,metals,papers,nano and other packaging materials and their application in all kinds of food are reviewed. Additionally,research progresses in recent years,particularly studies about packing materials are summarized in detail. Finally,the current problems and future research of food packaging materials are discussed. Food packaging materials are gradually green,safe,multi-functional aspects of development,in order to the sustainable development of the new packaging materials are widely used in food industry.
