Historical and Cultural Value and Diversified Utilization of Oaks
Oak (Quercus L.) is the largest natural forest species, and one of the tree species for ecosystem construction in China. However, it has not been given enough attention in a long period, resulting in a low resource utilization. Based on old tree fossils and relicts in ancient times, this paper elucidates the role of oaks as important forest vegetation, food source of ancestors, and in promoting social civilization progress. Combined with the diversified utilization and culture values of oak trees, this paper also discusses the significance of oak trees planting and cultivating for ecological civiliza-tion and social-economic development. The aim is to improve the understanding and high attention of the whole society to the value of oak trees, improve its innovative utilization, and give full play to the role of oak trees in social development.
