Research Progress on Methods and Mechanisms of Artificial Release of Silkworm Egg Diapause
Egg diapause in the silkworm is a physiological process of embryonic development stagnation exhibited by silkworm eggs in a cyclically unfavorable environment. To meet the needs of sericultural production, postnatal hydrochlo-ric acid impregnation is often used to artificially release diapause quickly.Since the use of hydrochloric acid has certain safety risks, it is important to study new methods that are safer and more environmentally friendly. In addition, the silk-worm is not only an important economic insect, but also a model organism of Lepidoptera. The study of the physiological changes and molecular regulatory mechanisms of its diapause release is expected to breed new varieties of silkworm producing non-diapause eggs. This paper reviews and analyzes the advantages and drawbacks of various methods for the artificial release of diapause, and summarizes the physiological, biochemical and molecular mechanisms of diapause release, in order to provide a reference for the research on the artificial release of diapause of silkworm eggs.
