Analysis of Fatigue Strength for the Fuel Tank of LNG-Fuelled Ships
For the full and effective implementation of the International code of safety for gas-fuelled ships(IGF code),study of fatigue strength for the tank of LNG-fuelled ships is carried out by using a two-parameter Weibull distribution to represent the long-term distribution of stress range.Based on IGF code, and in combination with the requirements of IACS and CCS related guidelines,a simplified formula for the calculation of the cumulative damage is derived. The numerical examples show that the cumulative fatigue damage under different design life(corresponding to the total number of wave encounters)and stress range of certain probability level can be calculated by the proposed method effectively and conveniently.Under the framework of IGF code, the proposed algorithm can directly meet the cumulative damage calculation requirements of IGF code.
