Hydrodynamic Analysis of Multi-Functional Wing at Zero Speed
To investigate the hydrodynamic characteristics and aspect ratio effect of marine multi-functional wing the computational fluid dynamics(CFD)software and dynamic mesh technology is used. The geometric model is established according to the retractable tail stabilizer product WING Stabilizer launched by Rotor Swing of the Netherlands, and the lift/drag characteristics under different aspect ratios, angles of attack and swing periods are analyzed. The results show that for the wing with an area of 0.5 m2,the aspect ratio between 3 and 5 should be selected to increase lift while producing small drag. Therefore,it can be considered that the multi-function wing is different from the conventional stabilizer fin pair, and the aspect ratio is too large to reduce the lift-to-drag ratio of the fin.
