Analysis of Corrosion and Fracture Mechanism of a Certain Electric Propulsion Ship Shafting
In order to study the reason of corrosion and fracture of the propeller shaft of a certain type of electric propulsion investigation ship, the manufacturing quality of sampled products is verified through low magnification tests, chemical composition analysis, hardness tests, and mechanical performance tests of samples.Through morphology analysis of corrosion case samples,it is found that the corrosion of the samples has typical local corrosion characteristics, and it is found that there is scale in the corrosion section of the samples. The main components of the scale are obtained through further X-ray diffraction analysis, and corrosive elements are detected in the scale through energy spectrum analysis. The corrosion of the propeller shaft is attributed to corrosion under scale.Through the analysis of stainless steel corrosion process, various factors accelerating local corrosion of stainless steel are discussed. The common phenomenon of shaft current accelerated corrosion in electric propulsion ships is discussed, and it is pointed out that stray current is an important risk for various types of corrosion in electric propulsion ships. However, there are difficulties in capturing and measuring, and further research is needed.
